Sugar Land Sports Complex | Industrial
The Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center is one of the premier facilities in the southwest for ice skating, hockey, figure skating and private parties. Located just minutes from Downtown Houston, its facilities were home to the former AHL Calder Cup Champion Houston Aeros Hockey team, as well as numerous other organizations, leagues and clubs. For this reason, they operate year round, excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas days. With multiple rinks being used nearly 19 hours a day, the cost for lighting the facilities was a large portion of their monthly bills.
That is why they decided to move forward with a lighting retrofit by using fixtures from Houston-based XtraLight Manufacturing. They replaced 65 of their metal halide fixtures that consumed 458 Watts each with more energy-efficient Fluorescent Medium Bay lighting that only consumed 216 Watts yet put out much higher light levels. With the new lighting, they are able to save over $14,000 per year! They can now offer a new energy-efficient lighting environment to their customers.
